Much like many others, my adventure into UX has been quite the maze. I kicked off my bachelor's studies in industrial engineering—a major that throws a little bit of every engineering field your way and loads you up on the importance of optimization, efficiency, and always keeping the big picture in mind when tackling a problem.
For my master's, I made a switch to the information technology management field to explore the softer side of product development. This marked the initial step that paved the way for my journey into UX as I did my master's thesis on technology adoption.
My PhD was all about UX; my research was on UX dimensions and UX evaluation tools, leading to the development of four social scales that are now part of the UEQ+ modular framework. During my studies, I performed a systematic literature review, conducted interviews, designed and collected surveys, held usability studies, facilitated focus groups, designed low and high-fidelity prototypes, and participated as a UX expert in heuristic evaluations.
